Not sure if videos work well on the blog, but wanted a spot to keep some of my first videos of Trevor actually counting things and deliberately saying his ABC's. Proud of my little guy.

A good one
I will not be taking the bike on any more wagon rides alone! Big man wants to jump out to ride all too often in traffic.
Morning fun at the Science Center
Sweet girl has picked up a little bit of an appetite! Here she is trying to steal Aspen's snack!

Actual Speech Therapy
Still meant to write about Charlotte's first birthday and our Christmas as my next posts, but going to put those off some more. I wanted to write an update about Trevor so I could look back and see where he started from prior to therapy.
We finally decided to start therapy. We had been on the fence about it for the past year for a lot of reasons. Trevor has made a lot of progress on his own, has little frustration, gets along with his more talkative friends great, mimics every word we say, but just can't say many of them clearly. The therapist said he is switching up some of his sounds. For example, he will say pee pee, but if you ask him to say Poppi, he says "kocky" and Kink for pink. He switches the beginning sounds of pee words with a K sound in most cases. He also has a difficult time saying the "F" and "N" sound. He just recently started saying Mo for "no". As much as I want my children to speak clearly, a little plus is that he hasn't been saying "no" back to me for the past year:) We were also planning to wait until he turned 3 to start therapy because the state covers it and he seems to be picking up more daily, but we realized that with his summer birthday, he won't begin that program until September which seems like a long ways off!
In the most recent evaluation, Trevor's "language" was above the age appropriate level, BUT his articulation is delayed so that is what we are now focusing on. In his first session, the therapist came to our home and used puzzles as incentives for making sounds and facial expressions. She was very nice and I was extremely proud of Trevor for sitting with her for 30 minutes and trying everything she asked.
This first visit was more of an eval, but he loved to try and show off for her. Right now, Trevor is great at his Abcs, loves to do the puzzle, say them, and can point out what the letters and numbers are. He knows his colors, his shapes, and can count to 10 well, but then tries to go to 30 mixing up several along the way. It sure will be nice when he is able to string along some clear sentences to let us know more about what's going on in his little head;)!
