Spit Up

I stopped giving Charlotte her reflux medicine right before her 4 month appointment, partly because I thought it wasn't helping and partly because I misplaced the syringe...

At her 4 mo appointment, the doctor said that typically reflux gets better when babies start spending more time sitting upright. However about 2-3 weeks later, we are all noticing a big increase in spit up so back to Zantac we go.

The ONLY cute thing about this post- This morning we were all getting ready to leave by the front door and Trevor ran back to Charlottes room and then reappeared with one of her burp clothes. Then promptly threw it at her in the car seat and looked extremely proud of himself. Clearly he's getting used to all the spit up and precautions too. Such a good big brother.

Love

Now that the paci has been gone for just 5 days, we may have been lacking in sleep for the week, but the sounds/babbling/words are definitely increasing. We've added tractor, whoa, chu chu, for sure, and a lot of new sounds/imitations. I'm hearing a lot more of the previous established words/phrases (whats that and who's that) as well. This has definitely been an added bonus of hiding the paci.

When Trevor was evaluated almost 6 months ago, the speech therapist recommended adding more signs. Trevor loves his signs, but unfortunately, I'm not the best teacher and he's found shortcuts for getting all that he wants with the signs he does know. Some of the signs he uses commonly are milk, please, more, thank you, baby, and hurts. But today, I decided to work on the sign for "love" and he's got it. So although he hasn't told me out loud that he loves me, he's signed it to me and I sure Love that! Baby steps!

No Paci Continues...

Hope I don't jinx myself, but we are now moving past 24 hours without a pacifier Trevor slept last night, today's nap, and has fallen asleep tonight without his beloved bow tie paci.

Ever since he started to chew through the actual silicone part about 2 weeks ago, I went ahead and cut the entire tip off with scissors. This definitely caused him to lose some interest in it, but he still wanted it whenever he was in the crib- naps and bedtime. But yesterday, the pacifier had been left at my parent's house so we put him down without it. I expected him to wake us in the middle of the night, but he didn't.

Just a month ago, I had dreaded the paci battle that my doctor recommended should take place around age 2. But knock on wood, this hasn't been too hard... Yet. Seems that the out of sight, out of mind concept is working for now.

Hopefully with his mouth more free, we can get some more words flowing!

And although it looks as if he may be growing out of this stage, he still wanted to remind us tonight that he can behave like an infant;) Here he is playing in Charlotte's car seat.

Big Weekend

Well, we left the kids- both for 3.5 days! We have never been in a different city from Trevor and besides from Charlotte's birth, we haven't spent more than one consecutive night away from Trevor. Obviously, we haven't left Charlotte overnight yet. My childhood friend, Stephanie got married in Tampa and we did not want to miss it! Not only did we know it would be a great wedding weekend, we also wanted to revisit where we lived right after our wedding.

Luckily, I was able to save up enough milk ahead of time for Charlotte so her eating habits were unchanged and I took my good friend or sometimes enemy, the pump to Florida to stay on schedule with her. Besides being a slight pain during the middle of the night, it was a small price to pay to have a great kid free vacation with Alec.

Thank goodness for cell phones- we received numerous pictures, calls, and videos of Trevor and Charlotte throughout the weekend. They were staying with my parents and it seems that everyone had a great weekend. I was certainly ready to come home Sunday and snuggle those sweet faces, but also extremely enjoyed the break and time to ourselves;).  I'm sure those will be few and far between!

Stephanie was a gorgeous bride, her husband, Steven is incredibly sweet, the weather all weekend was perfect, and the wedding location was beautiful!

We spent Thursday night and Friday on the beach in St. Pete

The wedding was at Davis Island Yacht Club

Just a little windy:)

Cocktail Hours

And then we all went out afterwards, even the bride in her dress

Good ole Allegiant..

We got home around 2:30pm and took the babes to the children's museum.  And in other news, Trevor went to sleep tonight without a paci.  Hope it lasts!

Charlotte - 4 Months!

Well, she turned 4 months on Saturday, but I was waiting for her 4 month appointment to get some stats on her..

The nurse and doctor (who I love) both said she was growing like a weed.  She has jumped up from around the 15% in height and weight to just over the 25% in both.  Her head is still in the 50% range.

Weight- 12.12.4
Height- 24. 1/2inches

Diaper Size 1-2 (we have both so we've been using both)
Clothing Size- mostly 3mo, but some 3-6 months
Favorite Food.. and only food- Milk Still.  Doctor said I can wait until 6 months to introduce cereal because of the need for iron at that point.  For now, I'm putting off the mess and hassle of starting foods while she seems content without.  Funny how different I was with Trevor.

Personality- We still have a happy little girl who is pretty laid back.  She cries when she is hungry, tired, or needs a good burp.  Most of the time, she just looks around and smiles back at whoever pays her attention with those big sweet dimples.

Sleeping- For the most part, she goes several hours without waking.  Of course, (last night) we do have the occasional nights where she is up a couple of times to snack.  But on a good night (4/7) I'm lucky to have her sleep from 7:30pm-6:00am.  She still sleeps swaddled up.  Those swaddles that still fit are definitely getting snug!

Obstacles- BIG BROTHER.  The honeymoon period has slightly worn off and while I truly do not think Trevor would do anything to hurt her if I wasn't around, has learned that he can gain major attention by inflicting pain onto his sister usually in the form of slapping or poking in the face.  At this point in my life, few things make me more upset that seeing Trevor bother such a perfectly innocent baby.  I hope this is also a quick phase.... She is going to be one tough kid (guess like most 2nd siblings).

In other news.. the doctor seemed impressed with her motor skills and strength.  She is rolling over and has good head control and LOVES to stand while holding onto you.  She will lock up her legs completely.   We have stopped the Zantac this week and hopefully now that Charlotte is more upright, she won't have as many difficulties with spitting up.  Still lots of spit up, but still never seems to bother her.  Only bothers the pretty new outfits that I've always just changed her into:).

And here is her progression in photos....

Twins?

Not exactly, but their baby pictures are looking more and more alike.... I think so at least.

And happy 21 month birthday to big Trev Man.  26lbs and celebrating with his second ear infection.
