Sleepless night
After one really sleepless night and lots of mucus, I made a last minute appointment with our favorite pediatrician to check Trevor's ears. His energy level was still high, but he was clearly holding on to his right ear at the appointment. Sure enough, he has an ear infection. Glad that we caught it, but also intimated by the thought of forcing down 2 a day doses for ten days, I begged for an alternative. Come to find out, there is an antibiotic that is more slowly time released and only has to be given once a day. I jumped on the opportunity. All was great until I went to pick up the RX and found that the new rx before insurance was $160! The amoxicillin before insurance is only $6.99! Feeling slightly bad for making Trevor wait to start his meds, I asked the pediatrician to call in the amoxicillin to save $$. And with her suggestion, we have been putting the meds in his morning and evening milk and he's not complaining at all! This is so much better than the last ear infection. Battles with bubblegum amoxicillin flying everywhere, but in his mouth. 9 more days to go;).

Beach fun
This weekend we went to Wrightsville Beach to visit friends. This was the first time we've visited since they've had their first child. It was so nice to hang with everyone and have toys/baby stuff already there;). The weather was great too!

Traffic was bad on the beach, so we took the boat home.

Charlotte's Baptism
On Sunday, we had Charlotte baptized. The minister was the same one that I grew up listening to and that came to Bald Head to marry us and who baptized Trevor last year. We had a nice Sunday with some close family around. I don't think I hardly heard Charlotte cry all day and her brother was full of energy as usual, trying to steal the show from Charlotte.
We tried to keep Trevor in the big service for the entire time. (didn't last more than about 10 minutes) Alec took him up for Children's worship here. |
The next few pictures mark the progression of Trevor secure in Alec's arms to running around the sanctuary and playing the piano. |

Then after the service, we all came back home for some lunch and cake!
And even Charlotte got to try some cake! |

Swaddled up
Can you believe that Charlotte has slept on her back in a swaddle for 8 months? I can't hardly. Of course, it's gotten more difficult to find swaddles that will fit and keep her contained (we are down to only one) but she truly seems to sleep better. Even though she can roll around during the day, she always sleeps on her back. She has been getting into the crawling position, but I haven't had to worry about her actually going anywhere yet. However, from a starting position on her back last night, I found her this morning ready to go. I may be saying bye-bye to the swaddle. One other thing I forgot to mention in Charlotte's last post was about her two bottom teeth breaking through.
My sweetest little girl was baptized on Sunday. Need to upload some pics.

Charlotte- 8 MONTHS!
Time is flying. Before I know it, I'll be sending out invitations for Charlotte's first birthday. Charlotte is doing great in my opinion:) She is still such a happy baby. She loves to sit up and hold things. She's beginning to eat and try more real foods. She hardly turns anything down! (a big change from her brother). She's still only had my milk. She's sleeping through the night with the exception of a feeding around 10:30 that she hardly wakes up for. She usually wakes up between 6-7 and then goes back for an hour nap between 10-11. She then takes about an hour nap in the afternoon and then goes back to bed around 7:00. She loves her big brother and his toys. I don't think she'll be walking in two weeks like Trevor, but I think she'll beat him on the "talking" side of things. She is constantly babbling, I love listening to her. Charlotte loves veggie straws, graham crackers, gold fish, puffs, toast, and baby oatmeal. We go in next month for her well check at 9 months where we will get a weight check
Charlotte absolutely goes with the flow, will be very interesting to see if/how her personality changes throughout life! LOVE my little girl!
Mexico!!
Last week Alec and I packed up, dropped the kids off at my parents, and flew to Cancun. We had been wanting to take a relaxing vacation and after making the reservation, we had 4 friends join us! It worked out great! The resort and the location (cancun) came highly recommended to me by a travel agent. Cancun reminded me of Vegas by the beach. Lots going on and lots of cool hotels. We had such a great time with the group and the food, service, and pools, atmosphere was top notch. I uploaded most of my pics to Facebook, but here are some from my phone!
While we did miss the kids, we were able to facetime with them multiple times a day and receive pictures of them on our phone which was GREAT all over the resort. My parents said the babies did great and I was reminded that all of that dreaded time spent with my pump the first few months paid off. Charlotte still has plenty of milk stored and I took my trusty pump (that I may have thought about throwing off the balcony a few times) so we are back on track with nursing. While on the trip, we had grand visions of future trips together, hope they happen!!
